A self-taught musician, Mathias Duplessy has been composing and playing guitar since he was six years old. He began playing on stage at the age of 18 with some of the biggest names in the World Music scene in Paris.
Having learnt to play flamenco with the gypsies in Granada, Mathias invented a new right-hand technique (rasaguedo) that he later used on stage and in his compositions.
A lover of traditional music, he plays instruments from all across the globe including the Morin khuur, Igil, Vielle, Jew’s Harp, Berimbau and many types of flutes and drums. Mathias enjoys diverting, mixing, and reinventing the sounds of his instruments, bringing them far away from their roots and origins by overlapping them with his voluptuous, and diaphonic voice.
